How do I Rec?
Official Reccers:
We will have three official reccers each month. To volunteer to be an official reccer (Please! We need you!), comment in the sign-up post. Official Reccers agree to post at least four recs during their month. For more information, check out the sign-up post.
Drive-by Reccers:
You do not have to be an official reccer to post recs here. Anyone is welcome to post a rec at any time, with a limit of two recs/day. Recs need to follow the same guidelines and posting formats as those posted by Official Reccers (see below). Other than that, there are no other sign-ups or obligations. Feel free to squee at length!
What can I rec? What can I not rec?
You can rec any audio fanwork performed by a fan, including but not limited to: podfic, pod-poems, podmeta, and filk.
1. You may self-rec.
2. You may not rec WIPs.
3. You may not rec a previously recced fanwork, but please feel free to comment with your own thoughts and squee on the original rec.
4. You may not rec a fanwork that only exists under f-lock or at a site requiring registration.
5. You may not rec fanmixes. We think fanmixes are awesome, but this community is for vocal performances by fans.
How do I format and post my recs?
You may post one rec per entry, and rec up to two fanworks a day. If you have more, marvelous! Just please pace them! And if you are filled with the glory of reccing, please consider volunteering to become an Official Reccer for a month.
Copy and paste this template into the HTML tab (not the Rich Text tab!) of the posting box and fill it out. Don't change the font size or color. Don't use any special formatting (blinking text, glittery links, etc.) outside a cut tag.
Tagging will be done by the mods, so don't worry about that.
Subject: Fandom Name: Title of the Fanwork by Performer
Fandom: Fandom Name. Try not to abbreviate it in the body of the post.
Characters/Pairing: Main characters of the story. Characters separated by commas or “&” will be assumed to be Gen by the mods. Characters separated by “/” will be assumed to be a romantic pairing (Lindsey/Jamia for romance, Lindsey & Jamia for friendship).
Rating: Rating of the story. Any rating system is fine. If no rating is provided by the author, please say “not rated” here
Content Notes: Any content the reccer things is worthy of advance notice. These can be put under “Spoiler highlighting” if desired (see our coding help if you don’t know how to do this).
Length: Length of the work in hours:minutes:seconds (i.e. 00:46:12)
Performer Link(s): Link to the performer’s website, AO3 profile, or fanwork tag on their journal. The easiest place to access their work.
Summary: The official summary from the original header. If you can’t find one, you can write a short one yourself.
Reccer Notes: This is where you tell people why this work is amazing and awesome. You have to say something here. You don’t have to write a dissertation, but don’t skip it completely. You may be as verbose as you like, but please hide anything after the first paragraph behind a cut to save people's reading lists. (see our coding help if you don’t know how to do this). Non-traditional reccing styles are awesome! Feel free to include verbal recs (with streaming), or snippets of the podfic. You can be as creative as you would like to here.
Fanwork Link(s): Provide a public (not f-locked, does not require registration) link for the work you are recommending. Feel free to provide alternative links. If a work has separate links for different file formats (i.e. mp3 and m4b), feel free to provide a link to both.
